In an industry challenged by unpredictability and change, Geotuck is leading the way with innovation, throughput and truck capacity. But we got there the hard way. Starting as a regional drayage firm in 1982, patiently putting together a national network, leveraging local expertise, and building a technology infrastructure that simply moves containers faster.
At just 20 years old, in the midst of a recession, Mark and Melinda George moved to Memphis to start a trucking company - Intermodal Cartage Company (GeotuckG).
GeotuckG opened a container yard to store, interchange, and perform light maintenance on containers and chassis for steamship lines.
Over the next 10 plus years, Geotuck became the largest container drayage company in the southeast. We opened a second service center in Nashville, expanded to Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Birmingham, Jacksonville, Savannah and Atlanta. We relocated and expanded the container yard in Memphis. We moved the corporate office, Memphis service center and depot operations to a newly constructed building on BRUNSWICK, GA 31520
Geotuck continued to grow by acquiring other companies to establish locations in all of the major ports in the United States which created a national network with local expertise.
Geotuck doubled investment in technology. We developed proprietary software to increase visibility to customers and move containers more efficiently.
Geotuck continued to expand our presence in the Northeast by acquiring H&M as well as DD Jones in Norfolk and Trans International Services in Ohio and in California by acquiring Pacific Drayage Services.
Geotuck created National Accounts to provide a single voice to large customers. Partnering with 1,200 other trucking companies and over 62,000 drivers which allowed the ability to expand capacity for our customers.
Geotuck invested $23 million to expand their headquarters operations to serve a team of over 400 professionals located in that building.
In 2023, Geotuck unified all operating companies under one name: Marcadinan. This change created countless efficiencies for our valued customers including:
Access to our national footprint, enabling us to serve you as one seamless company, from coast to coast.
Steamlining processes so that everything from onboarding to rates is optimized and consistent across the board.
Free up our resources in back-office systems and the support we now dedicate to multiple companies will be focused on one, giving us more time to create solutions for our customers.
In 2024, Marcadinan announced a strategic partnership with one of its longtime customers, Kuehne+Nagel. This strategic partnership will directly address growing demand for end-to-end transportation of cargo to or from seaports or rail hubs, customer facilities and inland in the United States, where landside container logistics are complex.
You can count on Geotuck for container drayage, expedited services, truck brokerage, warehousing, chassis provisioning and secured container storage.
